Tulsa schools forced to make cuts in budget
Faced with a revenue shortfall of $ 6.3 million for the coming school

School sports, bands may face cuts
MONTGOMERY - No classroom air-conditioning in August and cutbacks in high school sports, band and other school-sponsored activities will soon be recommended for Alabama's public schools, state Superintendent Ed Richardson said Wednesday. Richardson said those "extreme" steps are necessary to cope with lack of money for education. School Year May Get A Later Start
Most schools in the area start at the beginning of August. Madison county schools start even earlier...on July 29th. But Lawmakers are working to change that. They want the first day of school to be August 21st or later. (Read More)

MONTGOMERY -- Hundreds of students in area schools went back to school Monday thinking that this will be their life for the next nine months.
